So a few days back I watched Precious. If you've never heard of it, you may have heard of the book it was based on, Push by Sapphire I haven't read the book so I can't compare and contrast or recommend this book, but I can tell you about the movie. C. Precious Jones (Gabby Sidibe) is a sixteen year old growwing up in 1987 Harlem. We start off the movie with Precious getting kicked out of school and discovering that she's pregnant. She doesn't have the best life, she doesn't have money, she got kicked out of school, and she's illiterate. The movie, doesn't focus on one specific thing besides Precious herself. But it does show her home life, school problems, and what's it's like to be her. I watched this with my Mom, and we came to the conclusion that, it was a good movie, but the actors were better than the plot itself. I can see Mo'Nique (Precious's mother) getting nominated for best supporting roll for sure. I'd like to say cudos to you director Lee Daniels You deserve to get some good light shined on you.
